چکیده

Methods The clinical specimens collected from HIV seropositive AFB smear negative patients (Group A) with features of TB, AFB smear positive, HIV reactive (Group B) and AFB smear positive, HIV negative (Group C) were processed as per standard protocol. They were inoculated onto Lowenstein Jensen media and the isolates obtained were subjected to drug susceptibility test (DST) by proportion method and Genotype MTBDR plus assay.

Study of HIV seroprevalence in Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients with Special Reference to Multidrug Resistant Mycobacteria

This study was planned to determine HIV seroprevalence among pulmonary tuberculosis patients, to characterize the isolated mycobacteria into typical and atypical strains and to evaluate the drug resistant pattern of mycobacterial isolates. The study aims to correlate multidrug resistance (MDR) and HIV seropositivity status in pulmonary tuberculosis patients. During the year 1994-1997, 750 pulmo...

بررسی میزان فراوانی مقاومت دارویی در بیماران HIV/AIDS تحت درمان، مراجعه‌کننده به بیمارستان امام‌خمینی تهران از سال 87 لغایت 88:  نامه به سردبیر

The combinations of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs have proven effective in controlling the progression of AIDS, but these benefits can be compromised by drug resistance. Thus, drug-resistance testing has become an important tool in the management of HIV-infected individuals.1 Drug resistance develops when mutations in the HIV virus proteins occur due to amino acid substitutions.2 Drug resistance t...

Discordance between genotypic and phenotypic drug resistance profiles in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 strains isolated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells.

The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between genotypic and phenotypic drug resistance profiles of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) strains isolated from patients during double-analogue nucleoside therapy. A drug-resistant HIV strain was isolated from 20 out of 25 patients, with 16 (64%) subjects carrying a virus with multiple drug resistance mutations. The most freque...

Comparison of levels of HIV-1 resistance to protease inhibitors by recombinant versus conventional virus phenotypic assay and two genotypic interpretation procedures in treatment-naive and HAART-experienced HIV-infected patients.

OBJECTIVES To compare genotypic and phenotypic HIV-1 drug resistance assays. METHODS Protease inhibitor (PI) susceptibility was phenotypically analysed in HIV-1 isolates and recombinant viruses expressing proteases from viral isolates. Two genotypic interpretation methods were carried out in parallel. RESULTS Entirely concordant resistance levels were shown in 5/10 (50%) highly active anti-...

Evaluation of Phenotypic and Genotypic Expression of Efflux Pumpin Clinical Isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii Resistant to Ciprofloxacin and Gentamicin

Introduction: Acinetobacter baumannii is an important bacteria because of high ability to obtain antibiotic resistance genes and creation of multi-drug resistant strains (MDR). Today, the active efflux pumps has been suggested as one of the most important mechanisms of intrinsic and acquired resistance of antibiotics in bacteria. The aim of this study was Evaluation of phenotypic and genotypic ...
